Castle Mountain Moon is what can happen if two software engineers exchange their notebooks for notes and start writing Symphonic Progressive Rock instead. Ropp Köhler (keyboards) and Dirk Krause (vocals, guitars) come from different Prog schools but build detailed, story-driven compositions — put together, fittingly, by two people who never even agreed on which DAW to use. Their 2024 debut, “Six Tales Of Perception,” was acclaimed by the international Prog press.
On their second album, “A Layman’s Guide to Unobtainium,” Castle Mountain Moon trade their debut’s perception for something invisible: eleven songs built around maps – some that lead, some that lie — all aimed at something we wouldn’t recognize even if we found it.
“We wrote about something that, by definition, only exists when you don’t have it,” says Dirk Krause. “Still, we chase it – so somebody had to write a manual in layman’s terms and hide it in the music, right before our eyes.”
