Pennsylvania-based Heavy Progressive duo Deathbird Earth have unveiled official video for the single “Christchurch 281,” the second track from their debut full-length album, “Objective Consciousness.” Released on April 23, 2026 via SRA Records, the album is available across digital platforms as well as on compact disc, cassette, and transparent “black ice” vinyl.

Clocking in at just over two minutes, “Christchurch 281” was co-written by band members BJ and Dave alongside Eleni Kostiopoulos. The accompanying visual presentation was created and directed by Justin Roman. Lyrically, the composition explores themes of cosmic displacement, existential loss, and planetary exploitation, framing its narrative around a “reverse rapture” and a doomed, one-way trajectory through deep space.
Recorded and mixed at Red Planet by bassist and vocalist BJ, Objective Consciousness was mastered by James Plotkin. Prioritizing raw performance, the duo completed the recording without drum editing, sample replacements, click tracks, or artificial intelligence. While Deathbird Earth operates fundamentally as a duo featuring BJ (bass, synthesizers, vocals) and Dave (drums, percussion, synthesizer), the full-length album features guest contributions across select tracks, including appearances by Nick Millevoi, Pete Wilder, and Leah Basarab.
Following the premiere of the video, Deathbird Earth will launch a North American tour in November 2026 alongside Stinking Lizaveta. The run commences on November 6th at Ottobar in Baltimore, Maryland, and concludes on November 18th at Phantom Power in Millersville, Pennsylvania.
