With the new song/video, the SEK members reveal, “Amore Mio, Wallenstein’s beloved horse, is the main focal point for our record “Wallensteins Garage.” The fact that the general chose to retrieve the body of “Amore Mio” after it was killed in the Battle of Lützen is so peculiar that we talked about this again and again. Imagine orchestrating a battle with thousands of casualties and the only thing you cry for is your dead horse. It is only fitting that Wallenstein also decided to make a taxidermy of his companion. We strongly encourage you to visit the city of Cheb in Czech Republic and pay tribute to Amore Mio, which is now exhibited in the museum there.

“Musically, ‘Amore Mio’ is quite different to the other songs on the record. We wanted to showcase the graceful movement of galloping or trotting horses, so we went for a bit more shuffle and a bit more major in the main part of the song. Conceptually, the song contrasts Wallenstein’s loving relationship to his horse with the foreshadowing of the things to come.

Interestingly, the main lick, or ‘Amore Mio’s Theme,’ is a remnant of our very first jam session that we had during lockdown. At this time, the idea of Wallensteins Garage was not yet born, but our bass player Lucas was hooked on the lick and the odd time signature that he always wanted to bring it back. In the end, we managed to put it into a song that combines the more classic fuzzy sounds, so clearly influenced by the great psychedelic records of the late-‘60s and ‘70s, with the more focused compositional angle needed for a ‘concept album.’”

Exile On Mainstream will release “Wallensteins Garage” on black vinyl bundled with a CD and digitally on October 30th. Pre-Orders can be placed at the label webshop HERE and Bandcamp where “Auftritt Zu Pappenheim” is streaming HERE, and digital Pre-Saves are found HERE. For four years, SEK has been simmering beneath the surface of Berlin’s underground music scene. After two DIY cassette releases, the trio now breaks through with “Wallensteins Garage,” a debut that is equal parts concept album, historical meditation, and expansive Psychedelic Rock journey.

SEK takes its name from the initials of the members’ surnames, following the naming tradition of Classic Jazz ensembles. The trio consists of guitarist Paul-Willy Stoyan (Gavial, Jacke Schwarz), drummer Georg Edert (Elder, Gaffa Ghandi), and bassist Lucas Kazzer (Gaffa Ghandi, Borders Down), three musicians with long-standing roots in Berlin’s independent Rock scene. Bringing together backgrounds in Heavy Psych, Progressive Rock, Punk, and Experimental music, they have forged a collective sound driven by improvisation, curiosity, and a shared fascination with storytelling through music.

“Wallensteins Garage” was recorded and mixed by Fabien de Menou, produced by Fabien de Menou and SEK, mastered by Stefan Brueggemann at Mastering Room Berlin, with photography by Toni Petraschk and cover artwork by Benjamin Butter (Gavial) who also provides keyboards on the album, with additional keyboards on “Auftritt zu Pappenheim” by Fabien de Menou.
