Alongside the exclusive stream, we caught up with the band for a quick 3-question Q&A to dive deeper into the concept and creation of the album, read it below:
Your debut album “Dreams Lie In The Eagle’s Eye” marks your first full-length release since bassist Köbi Ferber joined the band in Summer 2025 . How did transitioning from a duo to a trio shape your creative chemistry and the heavier, more precise sound of this record?
“Köbi has definitely had an influence on the way our music developed. His many years of experience in the sludge and doom scene quickly became apparent, bringing a new sense of structure, precision and, of course, plenty of fuzz to our sound.
Birdlord started out as a duo, when Lily and Gaia began turning the Birdlord vision into reality. A few months later, Claudio joined us as our first bassist. We recorded our first EPs with him, and he’s still part of the band today as our stand-in bassist.
Finding a new bassist wasn’t easy, but when Köbi got in touch, it was fuzz at first sight. While Gaia and Lily are mainly responsible for the creative process, Köbi gives the songs a solid and structured foundation and brings his own musical experience into the mix. We think that combination has helped shape the heavier, more precise sound of our album.“
With lyrics in both Spanish and English, the album navigates intense emotional landscapes—from environmental urgency to despair and, ultimately, self-love. How do you balance these heavy themes while keeping your delivery powerful without becoming melodramatic?
We don’t really try to avoid melodrama. Some of the things we write about are heavy, and we think it’s important to let them feel heavy. At the same time, we try to keep the lyrics honest and grounded in our own experiences rather than exaggerating emotions for effect.
Talking about balance, we think songs can be loud and intense, while the lyrics can still leave room for vulnerability, doubt or even a bit of humour. Different emotions can coexist and deserve space. Getting older has taught us to deal with certain emotions in a more reflective way, but that doesn’t mean they hurt any less, or that they don’t still overwhelm or weigh on us. If anything, we’ve become more aware of what is happening within us and of how we can give those feelings a place through music.
We also like having both Spanish and English songs. Sometimes one language simply feels more natural for a particular feeling or thought, and moving between the two gives us different ways of expressing ourselves.
We’ve learned that not everything that looks like gold actually shines, and that we shouldn’t lose touch with what is happening inside us. We want our music to awaken and nurture that longing for truth, for the things that really matter in life, and to give those things a space where they can exist.“
The album is guided by the metaphor of the eagle taking the harder road by choice. How does this philosophy of making intentional, non-obvious choices translate into your blend of Progressive Rock riffs and Atmospheric, Psychedelic textures?
“We think this philosophy goes beyond music. Choosing to pursue music as a band is probably not the easiest path, especially in our early thirties, when many people around us are focusing on completely different things – careers, families, mortgages, you name it. We all have responsibilities and commitments outside of music, and some of us have even started studying music or pursuing further professional training in the field. And yet, we keep choosing this. We meet every week, practise, write, and keep going. In that sense, simply continuing to pursue this dream is already a conscious choice to take the harder road.
Musically, we don’t try to force ourselves into one genre or take the most obvious route. We like bringing together things that might not seem to belong together and seeing where that takes us. On this album, that often meant letting riffs develop beyond a conventional song structure, or keeping a part because it felt right even if it was probably going to be “too long for the radio” – haha. Some songs are more straightforward, but that doesn’t mean we chose the easy way; it means that was simply what the song needed.
We were also all deeply involved in the writing and arranging process. At one point in the studio, we actually threw away an entire song and wrote a completely new one because the first one simply wasn’t what we felt at that moment. That song became The Birds Don’t Scream, They Screech in Pain. For us, that is probably what taking the harder road means: not choosing what is easiest or most obvious, but following what feels true, even when it means starting over.“

Birdlord is a swiss Rock trio, blending Progressive and Psychedelic Rock into a dense, high-energy sound. Fuzz-driven riffs meet Atmospheric textures, driving grooves and unexpected dynamic shifts. Founded in late 2023 by guitarist Lily Lord and drummer Gaia Giacomelli — long-time musical collaborators — the band quickly turned their shared vision into reality, releasing the EPs “Snake Charmer” and “Serpents Prayer” within their first year.
A defining moment came in summer 2025 with the arrival of bassist Köbi Ferber, completing the trio and sharpening their sonic identity. Since then, their sound has evolved into something more precise, heavier and dynamically layered.
