“Farewell” is deeply tied to the personal loss of your family dog, Layla. Without lyrics to anchor the context, how did you translate such a specific grieving process into melodic guitar phrasing?
For me, the guitar has always been a way of expressing things that are difficult to put into words. With “Farewell”, the main melody came very naturally and I tried to keep that first emotional response intact. Layla had a very strong personality. Despite her small size, she was fearless and never seemed to be afraid of anything. So I didn’t want the song to express only sadness and loss, but also her energy and character. I approached the guitar almost like a voice, focusing on melody, phrasing and dynamics. In a way, the song became both a farewell and a celebration of the memories she left behind.
Building on the foundation of your debut EP “Inner Fight,” how did you structure the dynamic arc of “Farewell” alongside Vasilis Papadopoulos on bass and Michalis Tziastoudis on drums?
Vasilis and Michalis were also part of my first EP, Inner Fight, so we already had a strong musical connection going into Farewell. Michalis and I actually go much further back — we played together in my first band, Sinister Calling, when I was around 17 years old. The track starts by gradually building the main melody, and as it develops the rhythm section becomes more involved. One of my favorite moments is the bridge, where there is a kind of question-and-answer interaction between the guitar and bass. I also really love the section where the bass moves into a much deeper, almost sub-bass register. It gives the track a completely different weight and is honestly one of those moments I really enjoy every time I hear it.
Choosing “Farewell” for this premiere sets a key emotional anchor for the upcoming “Para Siempre” EP. What core feeling or narrative do you hope Progressive Rock Journal readers take away from their very first listen?
If there is one feeling I would like people to take away from “Farewell”, it is that saying goodbye doesn’t necessarily mean leaving everything behind. That idea is actually very closely connected to the concept of Para Siempre. The EP is about people, moments and memories that stay with us, even when circumstances change or someone is no longer there. “Farewell” is probably the most direct expression of that idea. It came from something very personal, but I hope listeners don’t need to know my story with Layla to connect with it. Everyone has someone, something or a moment they would like to hold onto forever. If the song makes somebody think of their own version of that, then for me it has communicated what I wanted it to.
Released on 6 November 2026, “Para Siempre” is Stefanos Andritsios‘ second instrumental Rock EP. Featuring four original compositions, the record blends expressive melodies, dynamic guitar work, and emotional storytelling, continuing his distinctive approach to instrumental Rock. Inspired by personal experiences, “Para Siempre” explores themes of family, love, loss, and the memories that remain with us forever. Each composition tells its own story while contributing to a deeply personal and emotionally connected listening experience.

Stefanos Andritsios is a Greek guitarist, composer, and guitar instructor based in Athens, originally from Larissa. Since picking up the electric guitar at the age of fourteen, he has developed a distinctive musical voice that combines
expressive melodies, emotional depth, and the energy of instrumental Rock. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Andy Timmons, Jeff Beck, Gary Moore, Joe Satriani, and Steve Vai, Stefanos creates music where the guitar becomes the storyteller. His compositions blend melodic phrasing with dynamic arrangements, inviting listeners on an motional journey without the need for words. Following the release of his debut EP “Inner Fight,” Stefanos returns with “Para Siempre,” his second instrumental Rock EP.
