Dear readers, we are pleased to offer you in this article an interview with an Italian Progressive Rock band. We welcome Spectrvm.

Hello, how are you?

Spectrvm: “Very well, thank you.

The band’s history began in 1974 under the name Stratus, how did the project start?

Spectrvm: “The nucleus of Spectrvm was born in those years, under the name Stratus, after staff changes and different line-ups, we thought it appropriate to change the name from Stratus to Spectrvm, by the way Spectrvm was the name of first choice already in 1974 and later dropped in favour of Stratus.

Your music is Progressive Rock that combines the traditional with the modern, how did votrs passion for these sounds start?

Spectrvm: “Our Progressive Rock music is part of our heritage as musicians of the 70s. Having experienced those atmospheres first hand, we thought we would recreate that style of performance and those sounds and settings in the recording studios of that period. We created all this and combined it with the latest sounds and software.

What memories and ane cdotes do you have of that magical time for Progressive music that is the 70s?

Spectrvm: “We still have beautiful and unforgettable memories even though at that time we travelled the length and breadth of Italy for years, with vans overloaded with instruments and every night was always different.

Your debut album ‘Skull Of The World’ is coming out after more than 40 years, how would you describe this work?

Spectrvm: “We would say that it was a work we wanted to complete, it was meticulous work, both in the performances and in the mixing. meticulous work, both in the performances and in the mixing. We wanted our our message to reach the hearts and minds of more people.

The music and vocals are very intense, what themes do the lyrics deal with?

Spectrvm: “Between us there is an understanding that has always amalgamated our voices creating the vocal impasto that distinguishes us. The main theme is about our Planet Earth, unfortunately increasingly mistreated. In the lyrics we want to emphasise this mistreatment, both human and environmental aspect of every living being in all its forms. Music and art can contribute positively to a change in thinking, so difficult to implement on different fronts, as well as the bad habits of ‘Earthlings’ . We have tried to bring about emotions and stimulate positivity in everyone’s minds.

Elaborate tracks with sophisticated instrumental parts, how does the composition of your music take place?

Spectrvm: “The tracks always start with an idea of common or personal interest, which is deepened, arranged and elaborated down to the smallest detail, right up to the production and mixing stage, and sometimes even overturned until the right idea is found. production and mixing stage and sometimes even twisted until the right combination of the combination of the lyrics, the musical melody and the singing of the vocals.

Many of your fans and our readers wonder if there will be a chance to hear you live, do you have plans in this regard?

Spectrvm: “We are currently busy promoting the album and preparing the various videos. We will soon start previewing the next single that will anticipate the new album. Then we don’t rule out the possibility of live concerts

Music is constantly evolving, how has your style changed over the years?

Spectrvm: “One of our prerogatives is precisely having maintained the style and technique that has distinguished us and still distinguishes us today. distinguished us and that distinguishes us to this day. The change has been in maintaining our lyrical-musical line in constant but strong evolution in conjunction with modern times

Italy is historically rich in top artists, how do you see the modern Prog scene in your country?

Spectrvm: “Today’s Symphonic Prog is based on the artists of the old guard. To this day there are few artists who tread the scene of Symphonic Prog Rock in favour of new genres of masses.

How difficult is it (if at all) to succeed today by proposing a more refined musical genre such as yours?

Spectrvm: “It is very difficult to emerge with a genre that in any case remains ‘niche’, not for everyone, especially for a younger audience, although to tell the truth we have had consensus even among young people who find a certain interest.“+

What advice would you give to young artists approaching music by proposing a genre like Prog Rock?

Spectrvm. “As musicians of ancient memory, we advise the new generations to listen to all kinds of music that is also historical culture, to disengage from fashions and to resume research sonorities and take care of the details that make the difference.

Do you have any other activities or artistic passions outside of music?

Spectrvm: “We are 4 musicians who love and dedicate ourselves to music, studying and researching day after day something different and challenging to give emotions.

I thank Spectrvm for the interview and wish them all the best for the release of the album and the continuation of their artistic career.

Spectrvm. “Thank you for the space dedicated to us
