Brand new AMS Records/ Cinevox operation to mark Black Friday 2023 with a memorable soundtrack by a Rock giant: “Murderock – Uccide A Passo Di Danza” is back on vinyl with the first reissue in over thirty-five years. “Murderock – Uccide A Passo Di Danza” is a 1984 thriller/horror film directed by the legendary Lucio Fulci – starring Ray Lovelock, Olga Karlatos, Claudio Cassinelli and Cosimo Cinieri – about a dance school, the Arts Living Center, in which a mysterious murderer kills female students with a long pin. The soundtrack was entrusted by the production to Keith Emerson, then in his forties, in the phase of rapprochement with Greg Lake that would lead to the birth of Emerson Lake & Powell.
In those early 1980s, having temporarily shelved the Emerson, Lake & Palmer experience, the celebrated keyboardist launched a solo career that led him to compose several soundtracks, including “Inferno” for Dario Argento, (1980) “Nighthawks” with Sylvester Stallone (1981) and finally “Murderock,” an energetic 80s Pop/Rock mix, perfectly in line with the sounds of the time, seasoned with Baroque and magniloquent arrangements that make the whole extravagant and eccentric, almost impossible to classify and unique. The most ‘straightforward‘ and least imaginative tracks are the vocal ones, Tonight Is The Night, Streets To Blame and Not So Innocent, with Doreen Chanter and Mike Sheppard as special guests on vocals.
Over the years “Murderock” has become a cult title among genre fans, AMS Records reissues it in a new clear blue vinyl version with gatefold sleeve, artwork by Eric Adrian Lee and audio remastered by Claudio Fuiano. The last four tracks – “Murderock (Parts 1-4)” – are released on vinyl for the first time.
