Levitation Records has just announced that Angine De Poitrine will perform at Levitation 2026 — and to celebrate, the Austin-based imprint is burning through the last copies of its “Vol. 1” vinyl pressing.
The duo — masked instrumentalists Klek and Khn de Poitrine — have operated since 2023 under a self-described manifesto of “Mantra-Rock dada pythago-cubiste“: a disorienting but strangely hypnotic blend of microtonal guitar and bass, asymmetric rhythms, and real-time looping architecture that owes as much to Minimalist Techno as it does to Avant-Rock.
On “Vol. 1,” Khn navigates the neck in quarter-tones, layering chromatic, angular phrases via an electronic loop module — microtonal guitar and bass lines entwining in real time into something resembling a Psychedelic lattice. The approach is additive and subtractive by nature: motifs accumulate, dissolve, and reconstitute in perpetual metamorphosis, closer in logic to a DJ set than a conventional Rock record.
Behind the kit, Klek operates with the patient economy of a seasoned guide. His matte-toned drumming functions as both anchor and navigator — knowing precisely when to deposit a new rhythmic element, when to strip back to near-silence, and when to flip the metric grid beneath the listener’s feet.
The result is a record that sits comfortably alongside the more adventurous ends of the Math Rock and Psychedelic continua — think Don Caballero filtered through Harry Partch, or a Faust session that decided to get structurally rigorous.
