Monastic Northumbrian Doom project Arð has announced through its mastermind, Mark Deeks, that drummer Jeff Singer (ex-Paradise Lost, ex-My Dying Bride) will be replacing Callum Cox (Atavist). The latter has already laid down the tracks on the upcoming album of the band, for which details are expected to be announced soon, and he will play his last show with Arð on August 05, 2023 in Manchester. Jeff Singer will then play his first gigs with the band at Dutch Doom Days and at the Hammer Of Doom Festival. You can read the full statement below:
“Followers: I have BIG news. In fact, 2 things… Settle in..
First…
I’m delighted to announce that we have been invited by Dutch Doom Days to perform with the incredible Officium Triste at the legendary Baroeg Rotterdam venue on November 17, 2023.
Taking the opportunity to play this fantastic venue on our way to play Hammer Of Doom Festival the next night will be a real honour, especially to support a band we’re all big fans of.
Joining us on the bill will be another Dutch doom band Façade

Will you follow?
And so to the second big announcement…
It is time for the torch of the beats of doom to be passed…
Callum Cox from our friends in Atavist played drums on both the first album and also at the three first ever Arð shows. He has also laid down the tracks on the upcoming Album 2.
However, other commitments in his life means he needs to step aside from the live line up to focus his time elsewhere.
I want to place my thanks on record for Callum’s hugely appreciated commitment to making the Arð project come to life. He will always be part of the family, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear his playing on the new album.
It did however mean that the drum stool was vacant.
For about 10 minutes.
I was really lucky to be able to call upon the one and only Jeff Singer for the recent Organic Doom gig in Huddersfield, and so when it became apparent that Callum was no longer able to be with us, Jeff was the first and only call I made.
So I am delighted to announce Jeff (ex Paradise Lost, ex My Dying Bride) as the new drummer for Arð. I couldn’t be more pleased to welcome him into the fold.
Thankfully, we are going to be able to give Callum one last send off at the upcoming show in Manchester with Stormkeep, Winterfylleth etc on August 5 so we hope to see you there for that.
And then our newly announced show with Officium Triste in Holland will be the first gig with Jeff after he has become a permanent part of the set up.
We can’t wait to see our Dutch followers there.
