Polish Doom/Post-Metal band backbone has recently released the official music video for the track “Questioning Everything” from their debut full-length album “Embracing Dissolution,” out on March 21st, 2022. Polish act formed in late 2012 by Mateusz Szymański (ROSK, Krzywdy) and Piotr Kowalczyk (Ulfheobar), inspired by Post-Metal bands like Cult Of Luna, Blindead and Obscure Spinx. The first performing lineup consisted of: Piotr Kowalczyk (guitars, vocals), Mateusz Szymański (bass guitar), Bartosz Naumann (Trup, Taxi Caveman; vocals), Mateusz Sworakowski (ROSK, Ennoven; guitar), Michał Krupiński (Kapitan Bongo; keyboards) and Michał Kowalski (ex-[wreath]; drums). The band released its first demo “Aetherlost” on November 16, 2013. backbone experienced a major lineup change in 2014 when Naumann and Krupiński left the band, and its founding member Mateusz Szymański left the project to form ROSK along with Sworakowski.
Kowalczyk and Kowalski continued the project with new musicians: Mariusz Hausenplas (Sacrimonia, ex-Sirius Draconis; guitar), Łukasz Muszyński (bass guitar) and Grzegorz Góra (Black Tundra; guitar). backbone released its second demo, “Omega Wave,” on May 10, 2015. The band shared stage with Dirge and Crib 45 on their Polish tours. backbone disbanded in May 2016 and returned in April 2019 as a quartet with new bassist Aleksander “Loki” Boguszewski (Spinalkhor, Unsaint). Hausenplas left the band in 2020 and was replaced with new guitar player and singer, Piotr Potocki, who contributed to the first post-hiatus release, “Grey Foundations Of Stone,” released on January 15, 2021. backbone’s debut full-length album “Embracing Dissolution” came out on March 21, 2022.
