[News] Baleine unveil the official full album visualizer for their new full-lenght “II”

Paris, France based Post-Rock/Noise Folk/Shoegaze band Baleine unveil the official full album visualizer for their new full-lenght “II,” out today, April 11, 2025. Watch the video for the whole album through teh YouTube player below:

This instrumental trio unveils their sophomore album, simply titled “II,” on this Friday, April 11th, and stands out for its minimalist format and a rootsy sound that’s rarely heard in the genre. A bit of Folk, a bit of Shoegaze, and a pinch of Noise and Math Rock enrich the sound of this opus, which has a rough feel, but is no less emotional. Recommended for fans of Slint, Cosse, or Tortoise!

There’s a melancholy in “II” that’s palpable from the very first listen, and resonates with anyone who puts their ears to it. Baleine readily admit their desire to surf on their emotions, like the character drawn on the cover, and transcribe them into music. But Nicolas, Jonathan and Hector remain attached to their little laboratory of experimentation, drawing on the full range of their inspirations. From Psychedelic to Post-Punk, via Indie and Metal! Over the course of 7 tracks and 46 minutes, the guitar duo unfurl something organic and tangible, while the drums alternate between catchy patterns and more destructured, free-form ones. Baleine invites you into an immersive experience, where a succession of memorable themes and varied playing intentions make up for the absence of vocals. A truly innovative curiosity, full of promise and just waiting to blossom!

Two guitars, one drum kit, and that’s it. Baleine doesn’t need much more gear to draw the outline of its universe, and put itself at the service of divergent, instrumental music. Nicolas, Jonathan and Hector’s post rock is stripped down to its bare essentials. The successor to I (2022), II affirms this unusual style in 2025, a veritable return to the genre’s roots. A multi-layered sonic journey, where introspection never betrays a hint of fun. With its sophomore album under its flippers, Baleine are preparing its migration to the great ocean of the post scene. And one thing’s for sure: this Parisian trio doesn’t just eat plankton!” – Clément Duboscq // Vous Connaissez ? – PR
