Buenos Aires, Argentina based Progressive Rock project Black Expression published the first taste “The Ignorant Seed (registered demo)” taken from upcoming new album. Stream it through the YouTube player below:
Counted among his less experimental pieces, but no less extravagant, it gives a fine show of both unconventional arpeggio and customary cadences. This, of all his others, may remind the most of Dream Theater, with time changes and chord progressions interwoven well with choppy riffing and catchy melodies. Only a diminutive number of rhythms, such as the one first heard at 1:17–1:32, are ever returned to, making it difficult to swallow as a whole, until after the requisite four or five listens are given their due. Musical ideas first thought not to be linked together are later found to have a developing pattern. Following the blitzkrieg solo halfway through is an all-too succinct stint of thrash metal, blast beats, lashing guitars, and all. Oddly enough, one of my sequencer players inaccurately detects the running time at 8:05, causing a silence laden last few minutes. One almost wishes that there truly were another 2:27 to experience.
