Two veterans of weird and brothers from another mother, NYC-based multi-instrumentalist Timo Ellis (of Netherlands, Cibo Matto) and Arizona-based performer Christopher Carlone come together as Borts Minorts and Hug Victim to create a blistering eight-song eargasm of insanity simply titled “Brut!,” affectionately named after the 1970s aftershave cologne. This enchanting and punishing sonic assault of PCP induced anthems is now available across digital providers worldwide.

Carlone writes: “Being a friend of and huge fan of Timo Ellis and Netherlands, my dream was to record the EP at Shame Party Studios. I blasted through all the basic tracks in one super fun day with Timo and left it in his musically masterful and demented hands with the instructions to go apeshit with it. I had a few basic ideas for him but gave him full freedom to do whatever he wanted. When he sat me down for the final listening session, I literally fell out of my seat crying laughing!”
Ellis adds: “BORTS MINORTS is a scorching, freewheeling, hilarious, yet super succinct creative manifestation of Chris’s incredible imagination, and an extremely well-realized, ultra-exuberant fusion of free-jazz, electro-noise punk, and sheer physical comedy. So, when he reached out to me to record, I of course immediately said yes. In my opinion, the combination of Chris’s insanely gleeful abandon and my own (similar) outsider sensibilities and producer chops make this record totally unique and powerful. In the end it’s super sharply executed, and doesn’t have a solitary ounce of fat on it… I fucking love this record!”
While the album’s eight face-melting jams confuse the listener in barely twelve minutes, more action transpires in that dense span than most albums thrice as long. Carlone provides vocals, drums, keyboards, guitar, pedals, skibass, stumptar, penny whistle, and samples, while Ellis delivers guitar, bass, keyboards, percussion, and samples. The record was produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Ellis at Shame Party Studios in Brooklyn and completed with cover art by Erica Flannes.
