Barely a year since the release of their acclaimed second LP, “Distortions,” English Epic Doom Metal quartet Godthrymm surprises fans with a new two-song EP, “The Light,” now streaming everywhere.
Godthrymm delivers sorrowful Doom Metal of the most classic UK style, directly descendent to “The Peaceville Three” which some of the members were a part of creating, the band embodied by guitarist/vocalist Hamish Glencross (Vallenfyre, ex-My Dying Bride, ex-Solstice), keyboardist/vocalist Catherine Glencross, bassist “Sasquatch” Bob Crolla and drummer Shaun “Winter” Taylor-Steels (ex-Anathema, My Dying Bride).
Taking a break from their ongoing album trilogy – initiated with their 2020-released “Reflections” debut, continued with 2023’s “Distortions” and set to end with the impending “Projections” LP, which is currently under construction –Godthrymm here presents two new songs separate from the triptych, “The Light” and “A Promise.” Recorded by Hamish Glencross at The Glencross Residence, Bob Crolla at Sasquatch Music Studio and Andy Hawkins at The Nave Studio (Hark, Grave Lines), the new songs were mixed by Hawkins and mastered by Mark Midgley at Northern Mastering Company and the cover painting was created by Jamie Glencross.
Hamish Glencross states with the unexpected release: “More heavy bloody beautiful metal and glorious colossal doom to be had; we are very excited to share some new Godthrymm music with you! These two songs serve as a bridge between last year’s Distortions album, and our forthcoming Projections album. Further expanding upon our sound and sonic palette, these new songs continue to mix heavy riffage and strong epic harmony and melancholic melody. Please bask in ‘The Light’ followed by being presented with ‘A Promise.’”
