Today, Chicago Progressive Metal aberrants Dissona follow up July’s thunderous opening track with their second single, “Weaponized,” from the band’s upcoming third album, “Receptor,” due out October 01, 2025 via Earache Distribution.
The brand-new single, available now on all streaming platforms, offers a markedly different tone from its predecessor. “Weaponized” is one of the album’s most frenetic moments, opening with a foreboding church organ before the full band crashes in with calculated riffs and an impeccable rhythm section. Surging time signature changes drive the song into ferocious crescendos, eclipsed only by vocalist David Dubenic’s signature power. Midway, a Baroque-inspired organ break sets the stage for a pulse-pounding guitar solo. This is pure, unhinged Dissona at their most alluring.

Beginning production in 2020, “Receptor” was poised to be the immediate successor to Dissona’s 2016 album “Paleopneumatic” before the pandemic dashed the industry’s momentum upon the rocks. Time, however, has a curious way of reviving what was once forced into dormancy. Now completely realized and tangible, “Receptor” is an electrifying journey that embodies Dissona’s dynamic and unmistakable approach to the Metal medium.
