A revelation from the shadows, “0 ~ The Genesis” marks the first public conjuring from the enigmatic Crimson Coven – a quartet whose origins remain obscured by fog and firelight. Whether born in secret or summoned from veteran hands under new names, their arrival is nothing short of fully formed and formidable. Like ancient myth reborn, their sound evokes the majesty of early Candlemass and Solitude Aeternus, but with a gallant spirit that places them closer to the sword-wielding grandeur of Tales Of Medusa – stately, haunting, and commanding.
Across nearly 20 minutes, Crimson Coven channel “spell-forged Heavy Metal” in its purest essence. Twin-guitar harmonies unfurl like banners in battle, recalling the noble fire of Iron Maiden, while the band’s brooding pace and colossal riffage show a deep reverence for epic doom tradition. But it’s the vocals of the mysterious J. that freeze the blood – a soaring, spectral presence that sounds less like a frontman and more like a herald of ancient truths.
To commemorate this arcane emergence, Shadow Kingdom presents “0 ~ The Genesis” on a deluxe 12” vinyl edition: side A has the brilliant songs, the other bearing an exclusive marble engraving – a totem worthy of the sound it carries.
