This past July, Danish Avant Rock trio SVIN released its seventh album “Introducing SVIN. One of the album’s singles is “Bøn” (Danish for ‘prayer’), which includes a vocal guest performance by the significant Danish musician Bisse, and the song is now accompanied by an equally significant music video.
Photographer Stoud Rohde Pearce is the director and make-up effects artist Morten Jacobsen has created the clip’s plague ridden Bisse. The song is inspired by the minaret’s prayer call and The Book of Ecclesiastes. In the music video, we witness an admonishing speech to mankind – maybe exclaimed by an excluded leper without much faith in humanity. Actually only one option remains as the leper concludes while singing: “Let us all pray for us, and pray that we are doing it well enough”.
Bisse elaborates on the song’s theme and its connection to the video:
“The bible is a beautiful book – filled with doomsday prophecies and revivalist preachers. This song is the conception of such a biblical character, which might be both preacher and prophet. In the music video, in cooperation with photographer Stroud Rohde Pearce and make-up effects artist Morten Jacobsen, he became an excluded leper spewing his spite towards the society that has turned its back on him. We imagine that he lives isolated in a monastery, way up in Himmerland (a part of Northern Denmark) And though he might be wrong, and all people besides him are safe and secure, it might be best for us all to just say a prayer alongside him. Therefore: Let us all pray!”

This coming Friday November 4th, SVIN will play a show alongside post hardcore combo Tvivler at Klein in Copenhagen (DK) and on December 9th, the band will visit 1000fryd in Aalborg (DK), while additional shows will be announced in the months to come.
SVIN is an Avant Garde Rock band based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The band has made their mark on the international music scene since debuting in 2011 with the album “Heimat.” After consolidating the current line-up, SVIN released their 5th album “Virgin Cuts” in 2018. The album features music that drags the listener into a sonic loophole between noise-infested rock, drony landscapes, new age minimalism and dusty afro-tripping, drawing on heavy inspirations from nature, folklore, ceremonial music and Avant-Garde.
SVIN’s new and seventh album Introducing SVIN expands on the trio’s bricolage aesthetics by adding a higher degree of electronics to the studio production. This delivers a robotic, futuristic feel of man and machine interwoven in a simultaneously manually operated and techo-mechanic musical multiverse. The cyborg-ish Jazz Rock vibes circulate in a musical reality with the natural and digital domains continuously shifting role and meaning, a stance visually reoccurring in the glitchy album artwork shaped by Ana Vujovic.
With its unpredictability, “Introducing SVIN” is quite characteristic for SVIN, who continuously widens their musical scope, this time by incorporating electronics and vocal collaborations with renowned singers Bisse and Marie Eline Hansen (Bleeder Group, Traening, Frisk Frugt o.a.) and guesting Danish trumpet icon Kasper Tranberg (Trentemøller, Mikael Simpson, CV. Jørgensen o.a).
SVIN’s seventh album “Introducing SVIN” is produced by Anders Bach Pedersen, recorded by Jens Benz (Iceage a.o.), and was released July 15th 2022 on LP, CD and digital formats via the German label Tonzonen Records.
