The Italian Prog Meatl band Dark Ages announces the release of their new album entitled “Between Us.” The album, the fifth of the band, will be released on May 19, 2022 by Andromeda Relix label and will be a concept about the fears and courage of man.
Formed in the late 1980s thanks to the unwavering determination of guitarist Simone Calciolari, the group has continued since its foundation the banner of the progressive genre: halfway between Rock and Metal.
“Between Us” is the latest Dark Ages product made with the precious collaboration of the Andromeda Relix label. The album is presented as a concept born from the need to tell the growth experience of the human being and to show how the individual faced with extreme situations is able to face his fears openly. This “fable” has neither characters nor narrative constraints, thus allowing anyone who listens to it to make their own story and to give the concept both a personal meaning and a completely subjective moral.
The disc was recorded at the Mago Studio by Maurizio “Tachy” Fracchetti, often defined as the sixth element of the band for the friendship and esteem that binds him to Dark Ages since 2010. The distribution is entrusted to Ma. Ra.Cash Records while the graphics were created by keyboardist Angela Busato – Kraken Promotion. The singer Gianbattista ‘Jan’ Manenti (The Unity) appears as a special guest for the song “Showdown.”
Free from constraints in the composition and with particular care of the arrangements, “Between Us” represents a way for the Dark Ages to play with music. Simone Calciolari‘s now stainless trademark on guitars, together with Angela Busato‘s keyboards, played a fundamental role in the choice of sounds and songwriting once again. Carlo Busato on drums and Gaetano Celotti on bass had ample freedom to experiment with the rhythm section. The work is completed by the lyrics created by Roberto Roverselli, a singer with a peculiar theatricality that perfectly matches the sounds of the band.
“Between Us” represents an important arrival point for Dark Ages after the debut album “Saturnalia” (1991), the Rock Opera “Teumman” (part one – 2011 and part two – 2013), set in ancient Assyria and from which a theatrical performance was taken, and the introspective thematic concept “A Closer Look” (2017).
