This is the first solo album of Davide Ronfetto, a Progressive Rock album, focused on atmosphere, dark but colourful, with a romantic melancholic taste. He is a professional musician, bass and guitar player, session man with 15 years of experience on half globe’s stages; Davide collaborated with Marco Minnemann, John Macaluso (with Rustfield – Kingdom of Rust), Docker’s Guild (Live sessions instead of Guthrie Govan and album guest, The Mystic Technocracy, Lion Music, 2012), Anna Portalupi (session player for Tarja Turunen, Steve Lukather and more), and many Italian artists from the Progressive Rock scene, Folk, Songwriters, Metal.
Davide tells us about the album:
“Enlightening nights, darkening days represents a turning point for me. I wanted to create something of my own, that better represented me, that was more intimate and personal, in the atmosphere and in the lyrics. Over the years, for various reasons, I’ve moved away from more muscular and aggressive genres, trying to find a space where I can tell something, even about myself. The colors of the guitars, mellotrons, organs and piano, the vocal harmonies, are all languages that were already partially present in other previous projects but always somewhat secondary. Now, for this album they are the narrative interweaving that binds all the songs. Having the collaboration of Heather Findlay and Colin Edwin was a human pleasure before a musical one. They are two fantastic people, friendly and with their own precise musical identity. I am delighted that they participated.“

Davide continues:
“Elisa Montaldo has done a fantastic job and is present in the project from the first drafts of the songs. Always working remotely. She has always translated perfectly what I wanted to tell. We are on the second project together with Edmondo Romano, the first was his participation in an instrumental piece of a solo album that I made a few years ago, and he knows exactly how to translate into music what I have in mind. They are fantastic musicians, as are Gabriele Tiezzi and Omar Maiorano, with whom I have been working and collaborating for years and I am lucky enough to be able to call friends.
My choice to play bass almost exclusively is dictated by several reasons. As I matured over the years, I realized that the guitar no longer belonged to me, if not marginally. I also realized that the instrumental language I had acquired was not what I wanted for this project. On the other hand, I had a problem with one hand, which forced me to review all my technique and positions and find alternative solutions. Also from changing technique and approach this album was born.
The other leap in the dark was the singing. I’ve always sung, since I was a child, been part of various choirs, a capella groups, even directed choirs, but never really solo. But I thought that if I have to tell what’s inside I can’t help but say it with my voice.“
