Legions OF Doom | This Friday sees the official worldwide release of “The Skull 3,” the debut album from Legions of Doom. Gathering some of metal’s most revered statesmen to celebrate the inspirational Eric Wagner, while kickstarting a brand-new chapter in the annals of Doom Rock history, Legions of Doom are an absolute force. Welcoming members of Saint Vitus, Pentagram, Blood of The Sun, Leadfoot and Corrosion of Conformity into the fold, this supergroup is more than just a tribute. It’s classic Doom by veterans who helped define the form and still have plenty more to say.

Satan’s Satyrs | Following the release of their comeback single, “Quick Quiet Raid,” at the tail end of 2023, cult Scuzz Rockers Satan’s Satyrs returned last month with their new studio album, “After Dark.” Having harboured a cult following for over ten years through four indispensable albums prior to their split, the band soaks ’Sabbath, Venom, The Stooges and Blue Cheer in Acid and acrimony, and revel in a deep love of exploitation movies and horror culture. Replete with howling vocals and freak-fuzz guitar meltdowns, “After Dark” is volcanism at its finest and a return to form for Dungeon Rock’s wayward sons.

Mirror Queen | Influenced by Hawkwind, Deep Purple, BÖC and Captain Beyond, venerable NY-based Rockers, Mirror Queen, return this month with their fifth studio album, “Dying Days.” Offering a heady mix of Psych, Prog and NWOBHM-isms Mirror Queen count UFO, Wishbone Ash and Iron Maiden amongst its influences. Formed from the ashes of long running NYC band Kreisor, Mirror Queen’s primary intent is to shoot their audience through a cannon of volume, hooks, and timeless riffs. And if there was any doubt as to where their steely sound was forged, it’s live and in front of a raucous crowd.

Mustafina | Charged with the task of opening the night’s proceedings are local heroes, Mustafina [Moo-STAH-feh-na]. Featuring members of seminal NYC Punk Rock band Alice Donut, the Brooklyn-based quintet is an unmissable riff-Heavy Psycho-Punk riot. Known for their kinetic live shows and vocalist Aubrey Smith’s versatile and inventive vocals, lyrics, and stage presence, the band has an aggressive approach to complex yet weirdly catchy song arrangements.
