Fragment Soul‘s new frontman Marc Durkee has recently released debut album “Drawn To Dusk” from his new instrumental Prog Metal solo project Drown The Ocean. The artist published the official video for the track “Boundless And Bare,” watch it through the YouTube player below:
Marc says: “I’m proud to present the debut track from my new instrumental project – Drown The Ocean. Huge thanks to Greenlight Studios in Yarmouth for producing the video, and to my friend Joel Blauvelt for helping me with the artwork and concept for the full album, which will be released on February 4th on all streaming platforms and Bandcamp. The track itself is available on Bandcamp now.
Some notes on the track: the song was born out of my desire to experiment with different guitar tunings. I wanted something that was heavy, dark and dreary sounding – so after a bit of trial and error I finally found what I was looking for. It became a staple throughout the album, as I use a similar tuning on many of the tracks. The song also contains an ambient acoustic break in the middle, which is another common feature amongst the rest of the tunes.
The poem that plays overtop of this ambient part is an early 19th century sonnet called ‘Ozymandias’, which speaks to the corruption that can so easily ensnare mankind, and the impermanence of power amongst our leaders.
I wrote, recorded, and mixed the entire album on my own. Whereas I’m not a professional audio engineer, I’d be curious to hear what someone with more experience thinks of the quality. Any constructive criticism is welcome!“
