Hailing from Edinburgh, Fuzz-Rockers Earl of Hell have given themselves a suitably heady head start on the New Year with murmurs of new recordings, an impending tour with Chilean/American multi-instrumentalist, Alain Johannes, and a killer new single in the shape of “Impaler“:
“It’s about blood thirst, revenge and lawlessness,” explains singer, Eric Brock. “We wanted to go back to 15th Century Walachia and give a gory snapshot of a sadistic leader’s notorious rein and brutal legacy and turn on the heavy distortion, pounding rhythm section and sharp vocals that make us who we are.”
Recorded by Andrew Cairns at Secret Basement Studio, mixed by the band themselves and mastered by Alain Johannes (QOTSA, Desert Sessions, Mark Lanegan, Chris Cornell) – who the band will not only be touring with but backing on stage across the UK next year – “Impaler” is Earl of Hell’s first release since their 2022 EP, “Get Smoked.” A furious assault on all senses and a thunderous sign of things to come, 2024 is already shaping up to be a big year for the rising Scottish quintet.
“This single is simply a taster of what’s to come in the new year, we’re well under way with the writing of our new record and we hope to showcase a lot of that on our upcoming tour. We’re still kinda pinching ourselves that we have the privilege of supporting Alain Johannes and him having the trust in us to be his backing band. We’re all huge fans of his music so we’re determined to do the songs justice and have a cool experience with a musical hero.”
“Impaler,” the storming new single by Edinburgh quintet Earl of Hell will be released on 27th October 2023 on Electric Sleaze Records. Pre-Save here: https://ditto.fm/impaler
