Blending Progressive Metal, Metalcore, Alternative Metal, and Melodic Death Metal into a sound that is both technically intricate and emotionally explosive, Far From Refuge continue to establish themselves as one of the UK’s most exciting modern heavy acts. Massive riffs, soaring melodies, intricate musicianship, and emotionally driven songwriting collide throughout Pillars of Language, creating an album that is as crushing as it is thought provoking.
According to the band:
Pillars of Language is a culminating amalgamation of many things we love, different kinds of music, fantasy, gaming, sci-fi (The Expanse in particular), born in inspiration and nurtured in love. It’s as varied as we are, and we hope it takes you on many journeys as it did us.
The release follows a steady climb for the Cambridge quintet, whose growing catalog includes the acclaimed “False Flag” EP (2024), featuring fan favorites “Ghost of Eros” and “Whitemane,” along with standout singles including “Crystal Cove,” “Neon Sleeper,” “Satellite,” “Starseeker,” and the emotionally charged “Tempest.”
Speaking about “Tempest,” the band shared:
Tempest is the soundtrack to the emotional storm inside each of us. Reminiscing on what makes us who we are, of love found and lost, and hope.
Three-time winners of the NMG Awards in the Best Artist: Rock/Heavy category, Far From Refuge have earned a reputation for delivering unforgettable live performances while continually pushing the boundaries of modern Heavy Music.
“Pillars of Language” was produced, mixed, and mastered by Oz Craggs at Hidden Track Studios, with striking artwork created by True Spilt Milk.
Fans of Periphery, Linkin Park, Northlane, and In Flames will find plenty to love in an album that effortlessly balances technical precision, Atmospheric depth, crushing heaviness, and memorable hooks.
