Progressive Metal guitarist Felix Martin releases his new single “Rumbacore” on July 31, featuring guitarist Angel Vivaldi.

“Rumbacore” combines Afro-Cuban rumba-inspired rhythms with modern Progressive Metal, bringing together traditional Latin grooves, Heavy riffs, and Martin’s signature approach to extended-range guitar.
“‘Rumbacore’ features Cuban rhythms mixed with Metal—more specifically, Afro-Cuban Rumba rhythms written for drums and later arranged for guitar and bass. I was finally able to capture this particular Latin style after learning how to write for a Latin drum set myself. I composed and notated all of the drum parts on sheet music before adapting those rhythms to the other instruments. I think this is the most traditionally Latin-influenced song I’ve written so far,” says Felix Martin.
Martin continues: “I asked my longtime friend Angel Vivaldi to play a Latin-influenced solo on the song. I knew he had explored Latin-influenced music in the past, and I was very curious to hear how his style of soloing would sound over my montuno. Montunos are traditionally rhythmic piano patterns used in Latin music, but I performed mine on guitar using tapping.”
“‘Rumbacore’ brings together Latin party energy, anime-inspired sounds, Rock, and Heavy sections in a way that works far better than one might imagine. It’s a true musical adventure,” says Moisés D. Bello, the song’s mixing and mastering engineer.
The track features Martin performing on his self-designed 16-string guitar, with Vivaldi joining him as a special guest. The collaboration brings together two distinctive approaches to modern guitar playing, built around the song’s latin and Progressive Metal foundation.
“Rumbacore” continues Martin’s exploration of combining Latin music with Progressive and Experimental Metal. This time, Rumba-inspired rhythms are placed at the center of the composition, shaping the riffs, grooves and overall identity of the track.
The video was filmed in Los Angeles and features LA-based musicians Nic Kubes on drums and Joan Torres on 5-string Esphera bass by FM Guitars. The track was mixed and mastered by Moises D Bello.

The single arrives just weeks before Martin begins a five-date South American tour on August 20.
