Appalooza are purveyors of a massive and fire-driven sound that blends Stoner Rock, Grunge Rock, Metal  and Tribal percussion in a highly organic way, all propelled by Wild Horse‘s magnetic baritone vocals. Expect to be taken on a dark and powerful rock journey as the mighty trio returns with their heaviest album to date.

Their new album “The Emperor of Loss” is  powerful and visceral concept album that explores the psychological depths of emotional captivity, domestic violence, and the mourning of one’s identity.

It marks a darker chapter compared to its predecessor, yet it stays true to Appalooza’s core identity. We’re continuing to forge the path that feels authentic to who we are, both musically and artistically,” says the band.

Through a circular narrative, where the end meets the beginning, it portrays the tortuous journey of a woman grappling with Stockholm Syndrome, caught in the grip of her persecutor, a figure both tyrannical and deeply internal.

Appalooza is a vanished steed, thirsty for a torn-away freedom, drawing its inspiration and essence from the dust of a barren desert. After a first American tour in 2015, the band relentlessly galloped onward, trampling into the studio with its rugged stride to record their debut album, “Appalooza.”

Returning in February 2018 from a second American tour covering Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, California, Arizona, and Colorado, the band signed with Ripple Music and released two consecutive albums: “The Holy of Holies” (2021) and “The Shining Son” (2023). Through their artworks and videos, the band expresses a musical and visual reincarnation that Appalooza is fiercely committed to defending on stage.

Propelling the listener through an exhilarating stampede of thick metallic riffs, rumbling grooves, multi-layered rhythms, and frontman Wild Horse‘s dazzling baritone vocals, Appalooza are set to release their fourth album, “The Emperor of Loss” in the fall of 2025 via Ripple Music

Each track serves as a chapter in this descent into the self, a kind of mental odyssey where trauma, confusion, and rebellion collide with a longing for deliverance, and even rebirth. This is a tragic and cyclical work, staging a persecutor, The Emperor, at war with no one but himself, causing collateral damage on all sides. In the end, he is the true loser of the story. The album does not follow a classic, linear arc of liberation. It unfolds like a spiral: each attempt at emancipation is pulled back by the invisible chains of trauma. But within this spiral lies a raw truth—the struggle is real, it is spoken, it is denounced, it is lived. The music becomes a form of catharsis, a sonic manifesto for those who seek to break the silence,” – says the band about the album’s theme.

It was recorded and mixed by Arthurus Lauth at Brown Bear Recording, mastered by Ronan Cloarec at Incisive Mastering. Artwork was designed by Wild Horse.
