When five friends live together in one house, it’s definitely a special situation. When this results not only in shared meals and a cleaning schedule for the kitchen and bathroom, but also in music and a band, it says something about the relationship and can be a statement to the outside world.
An intense band spirit grows out of this south german Rock commune – short distances, long nights, constant exchange. They speak a musical language. A collective pulse emerges, a shared breath – and this is precisely what fuels Yeast Machine’s energy.
Music here is not a project, but everyday life, conversation, feeling, friendship. You can hear all of this in »Bad Milk«. A cohesive, organic album, full of inner tension, diverse influences, and ideas.
Anyone who has experienced the band live quickly falls for their charm and charisma. The quintet gets clubs dancing, audiences moving, and heads nodding. The band brings the same intensity to their album, which is in no way inferior to their live energy and is of the highest standard in terms of sound and performance.
With their new album, the quintet delivers a statement that effortlessly combines the energy and power of their live shows, influences from psychedelic and prog rock, as well as catchy song structures and a flair for melodies. And suddenly this town called “Tuebingen” is somewhere between Palm Springs and Seattle, and then the Lizard King keeps coming back to visit. “Bad Milk” is versatile, varied, and yet cohesive.
“Falling Rocks” has the charm of 90s Alternative Rock, the lightness of Punk Rock, and the heaviness of Stoner Rock. “Feeding Poison To The Spiders Was Never Really My Thing” on the other hand, is a dramatic arrangement and alternative epic, energetic and full of exciting breaks, clever arrangements, and a memorable chorus. “The Golden Cage” concludes the album in a melancholic, contemplative manner, yet fuzz pedals do their job and build gigantic walls of sound.
Born in the Grunge era of the 90s and raised on heavy stoner and fuzz, Yeast Machine have been searching for their own sound since 2021. Powerful walls of guitar meet Psychedelic, Atmospheric downtempo passages, all topped off with exceptionally charismatic vocals that give the band its unmistakable stamp.
Yeast Machine was founded by brothers Fabian and Tobias Koeninger together with Benni Frenzel. Shortly afterwards, Jonas Bischof and Marcel Gundlach joined the band, and this line-up has remained unchanged. After their first shows, festival appearances, an EP and their debut album “Sleaze,” Yeast Machine are now taking the next logical step — a new label, a new environment, more focused and confident than ever – and delivering an exceptional album.
