Athanor is the duo of Greg Herriges and Rick Vittenson, formed in Chicago in the early ‘70s.
This is a reissue of their impossible to find first 45 from 1973, now housed in a cool picture sleeve and featuring a superior, previously unreleased mix of “Inner Space” on side B.
Impressive songwriting & musicianship, a collision of Beatlesque harmony vocals, Rickenbacker & Guild 12-string guitars, occasional fuzz-wah leads, Fender Rhodes… Psychedelic proto-Power Pop highly recommended to anyone into Lazy Smoke, Badfinger, Only Ones, Emitt Rhodes, Rockin’ Horse, Creme Soda…
