Described by the band as “the hopeful start of a fall,” “Wishing You Well” captures a unique emotional duality—the unsettling yet comforting sensation of being able to “catch the edge of the cliff anytime.” It is a track born of contrast: representing “something that has a bad smell, but a good memory” and capturing a sonic transition that feels like “our last sight of the sun, for a very very long time.”
Musically, the single showcases the trio’s distinctive chemistry. Comprising Emre Arikan (guitar, vocals), Alain Laan (drums, vocals), and Auke Heijink (bass), Polder’s signature sound is defined by low tunings, high volume, and a deep-rooted passion for spontaneous jamming.
“Our songs stretch out the way the horizon does around here,” the band shares, inviting listeners to immerse themselves in their atmospheric geography. “Hope you can feel the flat, wet ground under your feet as much as we do.”
“Wishing You Well” is a testament to the band’s DIY ethos and meticulous independent craftsmanship. The single was recorded entirely by Alain Laan and Emre Arikan, with Arikan handling production, mixing, mastering, and creating the striking cover art.
The band’s origins trace back to the summer of 2025, when a string of coincidences brought the three musicians together in a single room. From those initial jam sessions, Polder has quickly carved out a niche within the Desert Rock, Heavy Psych, and Progressive Rock landscapes.
