A new appointment, Monday July 03, 2023 with the great programme of Un Fiume di Musica. The new week of the Ferrara Festival begins with a double concert dedicated to the history of Jazz and Rock. Since 2021, Un Fiume di Musica has hosted concerts held by the students and teachers of the Dipartimento Jazz del Conservatorio Frescobaldi of Ferrara, offering this important music education institution a place to perform and present its talents to the city.
The Hyper Space Society project, born out of the Conservatory’s two-year Jazz singing class, under the direction of Marta Raviglia revisits the imaginative music of Sun Ra, one of the most original and influential figures in the entire history of Jazz, in a contemporary and also very light-hearted key. In the Psychedelic swirl of improbable and mysterious sounds, themes materialise that are now mystical, now earthly, inviting to disorganised movement, to a break with conventions. Rachele Amore, Stefano Asioli, Erika Corradi, Alessandra Franchina, Elena Romano, Tatiana Valle (voices), Marco Porcelluzzi (tenor sax), Davide La Rosa, François Ndayambaje (guitar), Vincenzo Bosco, Marcello Conti (piano & keyboards), Sergio Mariotti (double bass), Paolo Colaianni, Mattia Gobbo (drums). This was followed by Zappa Sensation, another revisitation by students and teachers from the Dipartimento Jazz, but veering into Rock and Jazz with Frank Zappa. One of the most incatalogueable personalities of the second half of the 20th century, creator of a mixture of high and low genres, with a satirical and extremely critical approach to American society. Arrangements and direction by Roberto Manuzzi, with Kiana Marie Meier, Elena Romano, Stefano Asioli (voices), Matteo Diego Scarcella (tenor sax and flute), Angelica Foschi (keyboards), Davide la Rosa (guitar), Stefano Malizia (electric bass), Fabrizio de Gregorio (drums).
Un Fiume di Musica 2023 presents twenty-one concerts, involving hundreds of musicians and professionals for three months of music until 17 August. For the eighth year, the Volano river will host a concert every evening at the Molo Wunderkammer (at the back of Palazzo Savonuzzi in via Darsena, 57) with the theme of solidarity. The Darsena di San Paolo will become a marvellous musical square where music can be celebrated and offer a meeting and promotion space for local voluntary organisations. The evening will be dedicated to AIDO – Associazione Italiana Donatori Organi di Ferrara, which will present its initiatives and receive donations from free offers. Un Fiume di Musica is organised by the Associazione Musicisti di Ferrara APS, in collaboration with the Consorzio Wunderkammer (of which AMF is a member), the patronage and contribution of the Comune Di Ferrara, and the participation of Jazz Club Ferrara, Dipartimento Jazz del Conservatorio Frescobaldi di Ferrara, Wah Wah Magazine, Il Gruppo dei 10, Scuola di Artigianato Artistico del Centopievese, Flying Boppers. The next event will be on Thursday 6 July with Alma Mediterraneo, an evening dedicated to Associazione I Frutti dell’Albero.
