Guitarist Jonathan tells about the new single: “Death is the song that started it all. It was the first piece I (Jonathan) composed after my grandfather passed away, and those opening chords became the foundation for the entire album.
I’ve always seen our records as a single body of work rather than a collection of separate songs, and this album is no exception. Each track was written at a different stage of my grieving process. The songs reflect my feelings in those moments as well as the evolution of my understanding of “death” as a concept.
A major influence on that perspective was Tolkien’s work, where elves consider the mortality of men a ‘gift.’ This album became a way of exploring that idea and it all started with this song.“
hubris. draw their inspiration from bands like Woodkid, This Will Destroy You, or Jon Hopkins amongst others. With their style evoking introspection, hubris. characterise themselves with the length of their compositions, allowing a range of evolving emotions through softness and power. The band calls forth emotions of its audience due to a heterogeneous musical landscape mixing poetic ambiance and raw energy.
They have released four albums to date: “Emersion” (2015), “Apocryphal Gravity” (2017), “Metempsychosis” (2020), “The One Above” (2023) and will be releasing their fifth named “White Shores” on September 10th, 2026.
All four albums were critically acclaimed and extremely well-received by their fanbase, amassing several million views and streams combined.
