As the band IONS is hitting the road for the first time, they’re teasing with a new music video for “A Terrible Mistake.” Watch the video through the YouTube player below:
The band’s lead singer Shorty Lago explains the theme: “We all make mistakes in life, yet one of the biggest mistakes is when we’re pretending that a certain problem doesn’t affect us. That’s when we’re unable to learn from those mistakes, and we repeat them all over again. If there’s any kind of injustice done in the society, we need to be more involved and stand for what’s right.”
“A Terrible Mistake” is the band’s first single from the mountain of songs piled up during the pandemic. “It’s always incredibly hard to pick one song that would best describe a certain creative period. Especially as complicated as the past two years have been. So we’re gonna start off with this one and see where it takes us.”, says their guitarist Jakub about their plans for the next year.
IONS originally started as a solo project of the band’s guitarist Jakub Tirco. Back in 2016, he joined forces with Shorty Lago for the first time on his solo release Jakub Tirco – Introspection. Although his initial plan for it was to be a one-time collaboration, something brought them back together, he says. “A few years had passed, and suddenly in 2019, we were about to release a full-length album together. It was pretty obvious that it was no longer a solo project, but soon-to-become a band.”, adds Jakub.
Since their self-titled debut in 2019, the band went through several line-up changes. The members as we’re going to be seeing on stage now are: Shorty Lago (lead vocal, keyboards), Jakub Tirco (guitar), Milan Zolota (guitar), Jiri Horak (bass), and Martin Pisko (drums).
