Sligo, Ireland based Progressive Rock artist John Bassett (Arcade Messiah) has unveiled the first single “Lord Hear My Prayer” taken from his upcoming album, “Son Of A Nun (Born Again),” set for release on February 13, 2026.

Twenty-three years after its original debut, John Bassett returns to the first record he ever made, with the release of “Son Of A Nun (Born Again),” a fully re-recorded and remade version of the album. Originally released in 2003 “Son Of A Nun” released under the pseudonym of “KingBathmat“, became an underground cult album, but according to John Bassett it never fully realized its sonic potential. Limited by production constraints and circumstances of the time, the albums original recordings fell short of the sound the artist had always envisioned.
“This album has lived with me for more than two decades,” says John Bassett. “The songs deserved better production, better performances, and the perspective that only time can give. This new version is the album I always wanted it to be.“
The new release has been completely re-recorded from the ground up—every instrument replayed, every vocal resung. While the heart of the original songs remains intact, listeners will notice subtle changes throughout: slightly revised lyrics, refined arrangements, and altered song structures. Produced with modern techniques and a renewed artistic clarity, John Bassett – “Son Of A Nun (Born Again)” delivers a richer, more expansive sound, bringing new depth and cohesion to a familiar body of work.
