Born in Athens in 1983, John Makris became known to the Greek public as a member of the Greek Comedy Rock band Anorimoi, whose discography consists of five official albums, two of which with Warner Music Records.
As a producer, guitarist and sound engineer, John has also participated in projects in Greece and abroad.
His first personal long-play album “Ark”, is an instrumental guitar-driven work, created in reference to vintage sci-fi soundtracks.
This is the first release of Symmetric Records that is not produced by Bob Katsionis and according to Bob: “I started this label to help the bands, artists, and friends I work together, begin their musical endeavors by giving them a helping hand. “ARK” was an album that I wish I had the chance to produce and release because I liked his ideas, touch, and overall sound. So, when John asked me to assist in the release of his album, I had to put my doubts aside and go on and take it under the hood of Symmetric Records. He is an extremely talented musician and I’m proud to work with people like him.”
According to John: “I’ve created this album inspired by my favorite 80’s – 90’s video game sountracks and some of my favorite guitar heroes such as Adrian Smith, Joe Satriani, Tore Østby & Roy Z. I like to call it a “sci fi” concept record, just without the lyrics! I’m extremely proud and honored to be on Symmetric Record’s roster among all those amazing artists and Bob Katsionis himself!“
