JoJo Razor is a dynamic composer who channels esoteric themes through an Art Rock and Progressive Rock foundation, seamlessly blending Electronic, Ambient, Cinematic, Gothic, and New-Wave soundscapes. Her unique approach creates an otherworldly sonic identity that is both evocative and boldly Experimental.

JoJo on the creation of “Eye of Clarion“
“Songs from Eye of Clarion began taking shape in 2015 and grew out of my time with the Immersion Composition Society in Oakland, CA, an underground network of composers where members spend a full day writing as much music as possible, often aiming for twenty songs. Afterward, everyone gathers at a member’s house for a listening party. At my very first session, Michael Mellander announced, ‘virgins go first,’ so “Imee Ah Oo” was the first piece played that night. I remember sitting there, biting my nails in disbelief that this unfamiliar song, this fully formed piece of music, had been created just hours before. It felt like I was hearing it for the first time, along with everyone else.
When the track ended, the room burst into laughter and joy. They couldn’t believe I had shown up with a fully produced and mixed song, complete with lyrics and harmonies; most people bring short sketches or fragments. They asked how many more like that I had. That day, I wrote three fully produced songs, two of which appear on this album.
When I was young, I was always searching for music I could disappear into, and I found it in the earliest progressive rock bands. Their melancholy melodies transported me to another world. Their lyrical hymns, poetry, and storytelling became my bible for living. Their
music became a touchstone for how I wanted to create, not as mere entertainment, but as an emotional, visual journey into another realm.
Eye of Clarion is that otherworld, where melancholy is delicious, where missed moments can never be recovered, where the true lover resides within, and passion mirrors one’s longing. It explores the ache of being left behind, the danger of speaking one’s truth, and the shock of awakening to one’s own voice, even when doing so bloodies the soul.
But most of all, it is about the masks we wear to hide the ancestral pain we carry, buried deep beneath the layers of cult-ture.
Eye of Clarion was born from my fear of the internal pupil of darkness, where I watched a spark of imagination dart and disappear into the colorful folds of the iris. From that single flicker of light emerged a stream of images, expanding into countless forms of thought. My mind reached toward it, and suddenly a movie began to play. I sensed a voice deep inside asking for expression, or my expression.
I opened my mouth… as a Clarion, and a song began.”
