Ka'aru Daring Spirit

From the southern tip of Brazil, a new voice emerges in the Progressive Rock/Metal landscape. Ka’aru is a two-piece outfit from Tôrres — guitarist, bassist and vocalist Lucas HR alongside drummer Miguel Faria — and their debut album “Daring Spirit,” released on April 24th, 2026, is one of those records that arrives quietly but leaves a mark.

Daring Spirit” is a debut that refuses to play it safe. Across its tracklist, the tension never drops — Ka’aru navigate seamlessly between Symphonic, airy passages and full-throttle heavy metal outbursts, always anchored by a strong Progressive imprint that keeps every twist feeling intentional rather than accidental. Melody and power coexist naturally here: vocal interplay adds depth and texture, while the heavier sections open up with a force that contrasts beautifully with the more delicate, orchestrated moments. Symphonic grandeur and raw heaviness aren’t in conflict on this record — they feed each other, and that balance is precisely what makes “Daring Spirit” worth your time.

We had the chance to sit down with Ka’aru for an exclusive mini-interview. Here’s what they had to say.

Ka’aru is a duo from Tôrres, Brazil, blending Progressive Rock, Progressive Metal and Brazilian Folk Music — a combination that feels both ambitious and deeply personal. How did this musical vision come together, and what does the Brazilian Folk element bring to the sound that wouldn’t exist otherwise?

The Brazilian folk element is very much present when it comes to the rhythm section. You can tell there’s a lot of chamamé, vanera, baião, maracatú and a bit of tribal rhythms on the drums and bass. Of course it’s adapted for a metal context — more double bass on the drums, distortion on the bass, things like that.

Daring Spirit” is built around powerful themes — freedom, resistance, the weight of silence, individual will against oppressive forces. Was there a specific concept or narrative thread guiding the album from the start, or did these themes emerge naturally through the writing process?

The lyrics come from the point of view of people who experience war — whether soldiers or children who grew up in a war zone. Not necessarily a political stance, but something that anyone who has lived through that might deeply relate to.

This is your debut album, over a year in the making. Now that “Daring Spirit” is out in the world — what’s next for Ka’aru? Are you already thinking about what comes after?

For now the focus is on getting it out there and finding the right audience. But there is already a vision for what comes next. If Daring Spirit is ambitious, what follows will be heavier and more emotional.
