In 2017, Kadavar created their own apocalyptic vision with “Rough Times.” Eight years later, the Berlin-based Rock supergroup returns with “K.A.D.A.V.A.R.” – rougher, tighter, and more powerful than ever. An album for dark times. A kind of second debut that combines the thunderous riff obsession of their early years with the cosmic creativity of their renewed four-piece lineup. The new record will be released on November 7th via Clouds Hill.
Flashback: only in the spring of 2025, the band made a bold yet magnificent comeback with “I Just Want To Be A Sound.” It was necessary: after 15 years, six albums, and countless tours, Kadavar had reached a dead end. Lupus Lindemann, Tiger Bartelt, Jascha Kreft, and Simon Bouteloup needed to find themselves again. They didn’t know where to go. Fatigue and doubt gave way to the decision to tear everything down and start anew. Producer Max Rieger (DIE NERVEN) helped lay the foundation on which the band could rebuild with renewed energy. Now they return revitalized, determined, and fearless, back to the roots of their fuzz-driven power: uncompromising, liberated, and full of joy.
The album was recorded fully analog, directly to tape, with Bartelt behind the mixing desk and his old acrylic drum kit – just like the old days. For the band, it felt like coming home. At the same time, this new milestone in Berlin riffing would have been unthinkable without the experiments of recent years – from Isolation Tapes to their collaboration with Psych-Doom titans Elder. The arrival of Jascha Kreft also plays a key role, expanding the sound and bringing fresh momentum to the songwriting. Without these small and big changes of direction, Kadavar would no longer exist today.
Thematically, “K.A.D.A.V.A.R.” looks outward. While its predecessor explored inner conflicts, the band now reflects on a world in a state of emergency. The result is a true end-of-the-world record: harder, angrier, sharper. Just like before – but with today’s perspective.
From the groovy opener Lies to the slacker Rock vibe of “Stick It,” all the way to the Thrash Metal hammer “Total Annihilation,” Kadavar sound both more varied and more archetypal than ever. “K.A.D.A.V.A.R.” pays homage to the past without dwelling on it, above all reviving one essential thing: the raw, unrestrained energy of their early days.
Kadavar have become themselves again. And yet, they are completely new. This is already evident with their first single “Lies,” out today via Clouds Hill:
“In a world where truth seems to change from one second to the next, this track captures for me the feeling of living in constant change,” says Jascha Kreft.
Tiger Bartelt adds: “This song marked a turning point in making the album. It somehow reconnected us with our heavier side. I didn’t realize how much I had missed playing angry and raw.”
