Stockholm, Sweden based Psychedelic Space Rock/Krautrock band Kungens Män published the official video for the track “För Samtida Djur” taken from new album “För Samtida Djur 1” out on February 09, 2024 via Majestic Mountain Records. Watch the video through the YouTube player below:
For those in the know, Kungens Män are everything you could want from a band and so much more. Having spent a decade in constant motion; pushing the envelope, creating music, and coaxing genres into doing their conceptual bidding, next month the Stockholm sextet will release their most ambitious project to date.
“För Samtida Djur 1” – translated into English as, “For Contemporary Animals, part 1” – will be released via another indispensable Stockholm-based institution, Majestic Mountain Records. Built entirely on their love for Psych, Doom and Stoner Rock, the label has courted Kungens Män for several years about the possibility of one day releasing a record together.
“…and that time is now!” explains MMR’s Marco Berg. “We’re delighted and honoured to finally be bringing you not one but two chapters in the evolution of their legendarily groovy, deeply trippy, and fiercely funky, free-form psychedelia.”
Creating lush verdant worlds from the stardust of Can, Pharoah Sanders and Faust, Kungens Män are just as capable of crafting minimalist masterpieces, as they are full blown and immersive sonic explorations. Recorded in the last two years in-between tours of Europe and the UK and consisting of nine varied, yet tightly fashioned songs, “För Samtida Djur 1” may display a less improvised side to the adventurous Swedes, but it is pure auditory bliss from start to finish. With Part 2 arriving in May, offering a return to the classic Kungens Män template of long sprawling songs and invitations to inner/outer space, back-to-back, both records will showcase exactly what makes the band so beloved in their native Sweden.
“För Samtida Djur 1” by Kungens Män will be released on February 09, 2024 in two limited editions variants (Virvelresan and Bra moln), both of which can be Pre-Ordered from Majestic Mountain Records HERE or on Bandcamp.
