Austrian Stoner duo Laser Eyes presents their second album, “Grizzly vs. Guillotine,” where the clash between nature and machine takes center stage. With arrangements that seamlessly transition from epic, eleven-minute journeys to shorter, almost Pop-infused gems, “Grizzly vs. Guillotine” masterfully blends contrasting sonic landscapes.
While the opening track “Rabble Blood” might initially suggest a Royal Blood influence, the album quickly takes a sharp turn, constantly surprising listeners with its dynamic shifts and genre-bending experimentation. Tom Sager explores intricate looping techniques, creating song constructions with bass and guitar loops reminiscent of larger ensembles. Drummer Lukas Grumet balances 4/4 beats with extended grooves, adding rhythmic depth to the album.
The result is a testament to the duo’s versatility, offering moments of both loud intensity and quiet reflection, rapid tempo changes, and lingering atmospheric slowdowns. The album concludes with the impactful instrumental track, “Geburt,” providing a powerful ending to a brutal musical journey.
Scheduled for release on February 23rd 2024, “Grizzly vs. Guillotine” will be available on vinyl and major streaming platforms through Grazil Records. Pre-order your copy HERE!
