French Psychedelic/Heavy Blues duo Lid Greyhound unveil the new single “Learnt To Drive” from the debut full-lenght album “The Foam.” Stream the track through the YouTube player below:

Lid Greyhound is above all a long friendship story. That of Erlé Crouseilles and Ely Rannou, childhood buddies in the same small town near Quimper (France). After having associated the guitar of one with the drums of the other in different bands, the duo adopted the name of Lid Greyhound in 2014, engraving their unbreakable bond a little more in stone. After two EP’s, “A Ride To The Countryside” (2014) and then “Fooling You Into Believing It’s Stern” (2018), the big step of a debut album is about to be taken with “The Foam.”

It’s an album that we wanted to be more instrumentally advanced, more “orchestrated”. These songs were already part of our setlists, and we allowed ourselves the possibility of different versions of what we play live.

Lid Greyhound‘s trademark? This lo-fi sound that reflects a strong live spirit, serving Rock music that we would like to describe as… chimeric! “The Foam” is like a big house where the ghosts of Garage, Blues, Psyche and even Folk meet from one corridor to another. But your hosts are not here to scare you, far from it. They are intent on offering a spellbinding and invigorating parenthesis in the 9 tracks that make up this already ambitious debut LP.

But underneath this luminous finery, Lid Greyhound evokes themes that touch directly on human troubles. Notably the difficulty to communicate clearly, or to manage one’s emotions, the search for certainties and landmarks in this world. Thus this foam becomes diffuse and elusive, and these songs draw the quest for it. As the result of a long-delayed gestation by you-know-what, “The Foam” stands out for a certain idea of Minimalist Rock, and which doesn’t need to play loud to impress and shine. To

With the announcement of this album comes a first single, out today! Here is “Learnt To Drive,” a little gem between Psychedelic Blues and Stoner Rock. If the attitude here seems casual, the substance is quite different, as the duo explains:

‘Learnt To Drive’ is a natural entry point for us as the first real track on the album. It’s a song that echoes all the themes we talk about. The difficulty in communicating, the loneliness, the entry into a sometimes more difficult age, but also the struggle to try and change yourself all the time. The structure of the song reflects this to some extent. It starts in a melodic rock/pop style, before a break brought by this heavier and syncopated part. It’s a change of mind. And even though it feels like this part could fall apart at any moment, it remains solid on its foundations.
