There are times when musicians with a long career behind them need to write music without any restrictions, just to let out what is inside them, forgetting their past and who they are. The idea of going back to the beginning of everything and playing with automatic writing can always take you to unknown territories.

And that is what Pacomoto (G.A.S. Drummers), Jorge García (Adrift, El Páramo), Víctor Teixeira (Giganto, Another Kind Of Dead) and Raúl Lorenzo (Sou Edipo) must have thought when at some point in 2020 they decided to lock themselves in the rehearsal room and start creating music without any preconceived ideas.

The result of those two years of experimentation by Loma Baja is called “Piscinas Verticales,” an album whose concept revolves around the spontaneous and the surreal, as if it were the soundtrack to your worst nightmare. Their sound goes far beyond labels and musical genres, although you can see similarities with bands like Beak, Portishead, Fugazi, True Widow or Liars.

Piscinas Verticales,” whose artwork is the work of Bol Estudio, was recorded live at Madrid’s Metropol Estudios by Rafa Camisón, who later took care of the mixing at Estudio 79 (Jerez de la Frontera), before being mastered at Ultramarinos Costa Brava.

The album will be officially released on May 26, 2023 on vinyl and digital formats – on the same day they will present it live at the Sound Isidro Festival in Madrid – through a collaboration between the independent labels Spinda Records (Spain), Lay Bare Recordings (Netherlands), Clostridium Records (Germany) and Echodelick Records (USA).
