[News] Majestica announce the new album “A Christmas Carol”

In 2019, the Swedish power metal heroes Majestica released their debut album “Above The Sky,” achieving huge success within the metal community. Now they are back not only with a new album, but with a special surprise for fans: a Power Metal album in a Christmas musical key entitled “A Christmas Carol“. It is pure Symphonic Power Metal in the true spirit of Majesticawith elements inspired by Twilight Force, Rhapsody, Alan Silvestri, Danny Elfman and John Williams. Pre-orders will begin on October 23, 2020 the day the first single will also be revealed.

What makes this Christmas album truly unique is not only the inclusion of well-known Christmas songs, but also because the theme is the famous story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a character born from the pen of Charles Dickens and protagonist of the novel “The Christmas Carol.” Through the different voices of the many characters in the story, accompanied by appropriate music, people will hear not only a really well composed new power metal album, but also a power metal musical that immediately recreates the Christmas atmosphere.

Tommy Johansson states: “A stupid dream of mine has finally come true. For many years I have wanted to release a Christmas album, because the Christmas atmosphere is always so peaceful and the music with a clear Christmas theme is always beautiful and very well written. The reason we chose to make a musical album with the story of Ebenezer Scrooge is very simple: it’s a great story to tell around Christmas and it works so well as a musical. And with the help of various voice actors and singers we have made all this possible; we are very happy with the result“.

As for their musical direction, he adds: “Once again people can expect real power metal, but this time it’s a little more symphonic and epic than our previous album ‘Above The Sky’. As for the symphonic parts, we went a little further and included many more orchestral instruments, including tubular bells, xylophone and sleigh bells to really get that Christmas sound.

Voices are reminiscent of Michael Kiske, Tobias Sammet and Sebastian Bach, but this time there are guest singers from different bands like Veonity, Hot Beef Injection and all the members of Majestica. The artwork was done by underground artist Madeleine Andersson, who previously created some designs for Twilight Force and has a perfect design style for what the band needed.

Tommy adds: “As the artwork we wanted a painting that captured the dark and phantasmatically cold atmosphere we sing about on the record. I have known Madeleine for a while and have seen what she is capable of, so when I asked her to collaborate, she immediately said yes. We were impressed and very happy with what he did for this record.”

In the previous album “Above The Sky” the legendary Uli Kusch (ex Helloween, ex Gamma Ray, ex Masterplan) played drums; in this Majestica have hired the great Joel Kollberg (Veonity) who not only plays the drums in such a way that he seems born to do it, but he also loves power metal and knows exactly what you need. “We are very happy to have Joel as a drummer, not only because of the way he plays the songs and the speed with which he learned the previous songs and the new material, but also because he is a good guy and we love him. Great drummer, great singer and great friend ”, he concludes. The music was written, recorded and produced by Majestica in Nygård, Ekshärad in the summer of 2020. Mixing and mastering are by Jonas Kjellgren (Scar Symmetry, Raubtier) at Black Lounge Studios.
