The song sets out to explore in depth the thoughts and emotions related to the increasing demands and pressures of society.
Its conception was motivated by a strong need for Mathela to give voice to their generation through music and to offer adults the chance to see the world through the eyes of a young person, at least for the duration of a song.
In an attempt to address this complex issue, they chose the metaphor of the ‘marble’ to convey the chaos they often feel overwhelmed by. Like the marble that rolls unpredictably, young people find themselves having to navigate through life’s challenges, trying to keep their balance to avoid falling.
The marble, the symbol of their experience, represents the uncertain and unstoppable nature of life, and music becomes the medium through which they express their anxieties and hopes.
