Belgian Instrumental Doom/Sludge Metal band Modder has unveiled the first single “Doom Denker” taken from their new album, “The Great Liberation Through Hearing,” set to release on November 17th, 2023 via Lay Bare Recordings and Consouling Sounds. Watch the video through the YouTube player below:

After suffering significant personal losses across the board during the past two and a half years, Modder, among other sources, looked towards “The Bardo Thodol” (The Tibetan Book of the Dead) for inspiration and as one of the guides to complete the work that has resulted into the on November 17th to be released record “The Great Liberation Through Hearing.”
Songwriting wise this new record also saw all five members significantly bringing their musical ideas to the table. And in doing so, making the music of Modder to the so called ‘next level.’ Alongside that what Modder already does very well, the band has not feared to implement an even wider variety of styles, ranging from Grind & Thrash Metal to elements of Psytrance/Electronic Music.
For the recording of this for Modder significant record the band this time joined forces with engineers Jonas Everaert & Jannes Van Rossom (Brussels Philharmonic, STAKE, Brutus & Russian Circles a.o.) for two recording sessions at DUNK studios in the Belgian city of Zottegem. While drums and guitars were (partially) recorded at DUNK studios, additional recordings and the rest of the instruments were self-recorded/produced in the members their separate home studios.
Modder guitarist Mathlovsky signed up once again as mixing engineer and for postproduction at his own House Of Lov studio. And finally, Brad Boatright (Audiosiege mastering studio, Portland, OR) took upon the mastering duties which evolved in a staggering end result.
Artwork and design for “The Great Liberation Through Hearing” is delivered anew by the distinguished, UK based graphic-artist ‘Throne’ and came about after close collaboration with the band.
This is a collaboration between Consouling Sounds (Belgium) and Lay Bare Recordings (The Netherlands).
