Bay Area family band Moonalice returns with a reflective new song and video, “Me and My Family.” Erika Tietjen of the T Sisters takes center stage with her soulful vocals and heartfelt lyrics about keeping your loved ones close, especially in times of stress. The band embraces its Americana Rock influences with a twangy shuffle and earnest melodies, as Erika sings, “There’s a rocky road before us, But if we sing a chorus, In three-part harmony, Then we can make it through, Me and my family.”
“Me and My Family” follows their recent live recording release, “Live at HopMonk (December 2, 2023) [First Set],” and signals more original compositions and fan favorites to come from this prolific family band.
Speaking of the band’s live show, they’re excited to kick off a string of summer tour dates. First, they’ll appear at the Bottle Rock Napa Valley Music Festival on Sunday, May 25th, alongside artists like Goose, Allen Stone, Khruangbin, and more! Then they’ll head on the road this July, starting with the Oregon County Fair on July 12th, followed by a string of Summer Concert Series in Alamo, CA, Sebastopol, CA, and Moraga, CA. Later this summer, they’ll be at the Petaluma Music Festival on July 27th and the Hog Farm Celebration in September. For Bay Area collective Moonalice, making music is more than just a career; it’s in their blood. It’s family. The ten-piece group includes the father-son duo Lester and Dylan Chambers, the T-Sisters vocal trio of Erika, Chloe, and Rachel Tietjen, and a band of musicians who have performed together for long enough to call each other brothers: Barry Sless, Pete Sears, John Molo, Jason Crosby, and Roger McNamee.
Known for delivering a unique brand of Psychedelic Soul and Americana, the group of musical legends and next-gen Rock’n’Roll lifers has been on a prolific run, releasing nine albums since October 2022, including four in 2023, three in 2024, and “Live at the HopMonk (December 2, 2023) [First Set],” earlier this year. With their brand new original song “Me and My Family,” they show no signs of slowing down.
The song follows in the footsteps of their latest studio recording, “Cool Cats,” an eight-song release highlighting the unique individuals who make this band greater than the sum of its parts. The compositions were written by Moonalice with Nashville songwriter Dylan Altman, and they continued the family-themed narratives heard on the band’s companion EPs “Father & Son” (2023) and “Mother & Child” (2023). Over the years, the band has also featured their mesmerizing live show, releasing three concert albums albums: “Live at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass,” which captures an electrifying performance at the beloved San Francisco Festival, “Live at the HopMonk (December 2, 2023) [Second Set],” and “Live at the HopMonk (December 2, 2023) [First Set].”
If the past year proved anything, Moonalice’s creative energy continues to build. Stay tuned for more peace, love, and happiness from Moonalice!
