The Galicians Moura, two years after the release of their self-titled debut and the single “Muiñeira da Maruxaina” in 2021 (included in the boxset ‘Grados. Minutos. Segundos.‘), are back with their long-awaited second studio album “Axexan, espreitan,” through which they continue delving into the tradition of their land, both lyrically and instrumentally. Its official presentation will take place on June 4 in Madrid under the Sound Isidro concert series.

If last March they premiered a first advance entitled “Baile do dentón,” a song halfway between Neo-Psychedelia and Krautrock, today the Galicians release “Romance de Andrés d’Orois.” On this occasion, Moura present a composition much closer to traditional folklore that ends up exploding in a multi-color fusion of Progressive Rock through which to tell the story of Andrés (maternal great-grandfather of Diego Veiga, singer of the band), cattle dealer native of the parish of Orois (Melide) who was murdered at the beginning of the 20th century by two thieves in the Ribadiso forest when he was returning from a fair.

This second and last advance single is accompanied by a video clip in which Leo López (recording) and the duo formed by Hugo Santeiro and Fernando Vilaboy (editing) transport us to the late 60s and early 70s, paying homage to to the Beat-Club, the mythical German television program on which groups such as Black Sabbath, Yes, Can, T.Rex, King Crimson or the Grateful Dead, among others, appeared.

Axexan, espreitan” is a map of the intangible heritage of the Galician people drawn up based on personal memories, popular customs, rites as a social element and the presence of spirits of those who are no longer there. They watch and watch over us in a protective sense; and they are part of our being, blurring the thin line between the world of the living and the world of the dead.

On this occasion, the singer and percussionist Belém Tajes leaves the Irmandade Ártabra (currently made up of 8 collaborating musicians specialized in traditional Galician sounds) to form part of the nucleus of Moura together with Diego Veiga, Hugo Santeiro, Fernando Vilaboy, Luis Casanova and Pedro Alberte.

Axexan, espreitan” will be released on May 27, 2022 through the Andalusian label Spinda Records within its ‘The Trippy Series‘ in digital, compact disc, cassette formats and in a triple vinyl edition limited to 400 copies numbered in black, 250 in translucent purple and 150 in marbled orange. This new album was recorded during the summer of 2021 in a house in the parish of Moruxo (Bergondo) on the outskirts of A Coruña by J. Gutiérrez (who also worked on the production with the band itself); to later be mixed by the producer himself in Cangas (Pontevedra) in the fall of the same year and mastered by Álvaro Gallego at Agmastering. In the visual section, the cover design is the work of Hugo Santeiro, based on images provided by the Museo do Pobo Galego; photography, by Leo López; the video-clip of “Baile do dentón,” by Pablo Soto Goluboff and “Romance de Andrés d’Orois,” by Leo López, Hugo Santeiro and Fernando Vilaboy.
