An extraordinary international lineup for one of the leading Italian and European festivals of summer 2026: presented by Let’s Get Lost by Music By Eder, the fourth edition of the MoonJune Festival is shaping up to be one of the standout musical events in Italy and across Europe in 2026. Just consider the presence of giants such as Soft Machine with Gary Husband, Gong with Steve Hillage, Osanna with David Jackson, and many more across an intense three-day program in Teramo. Rock, Jazz, Fusion, Avant-Rock, World-Fusion and progressive music will converge in a suggestive setting, reflecting the philosophy that MoonJune Music has championed for the past 25 years: supporting international music that transcends styles and genres within a progressive and evolutionary musical continuum exploring the borders of Jazz, Rock, Avant-Garde, Ethnic traditions, the unknown, and everything in between.
MoonJune Festival is the brainchild of the multifaceted Leonardo Pavkovic, the driving force behind MoonJune Music, the historic New York-based company (now operating from Toledo) known worldwide for its record and management work with major figures in Jazz and Rock. After three editions (Jaice 2022, Toledo 2023, Guadamur 2024), the label festival moves to Italy thanks to the Cultural Association Music By Eder, led by Emiliano Di Serafino, a highly active organization that for years has promoted numerous concerts across the Teramo area, widely appreciated by audiences and critics alike. From July 22 to 25, 2026, Teramo will become a true music citadel as well as a meeting place for international audiences who have long followed MoonJune events. Alongside concerts featuring an international cast, the festival will host round tables and experiential pathways exploring the region’s gastronomic, natural and historical-cultural heritage, also thanks to the collaboration of several institutions (University of Teramo, City of Teramo, Province of Teramo, Fondazione Tercas, B.I.M. Vomano and Tordino, and the Gran Sasso d’Italia Chamber of Commerce).
The festival opens on Wednesday, July 22 in Piazza Sant’Anna with a free-entry welcome party, a lively celebration featuring a jam session with festival artists. The first official day, Thursday, July 23, begins at 11:00 a.m. at Castello della Monica with a round table dedicated to the 25th anniversary of MoonJune Music, followed by a concert by Vittorino Curci with special guests Luca Calabrese and Boris Savoldelli, an unconventional encounter between music and poetry. At 5:45 p.m. in Largo Melatino two concerts will bridge Italy and the international scene: the refined accordion of Danilo Di Paolonicola interpreting the repertoire of Charlie Parker, followed by a dazzling guitar duet featuring Indonesia’s Dewa Budjana and Switzerland’s Nicolas Meier. In the evening the festival moves to Piazza Sant’Anna, the main MoonJune Festival venue, for three spectacular concerts starting at 8:00 p.m.: one of the leading figures of international Avant-Rock, Germany’s Markus Reuter, with his TRUCE project alongside Fabio Trentini, Asaf Sirkis and Mark Wingfield; the multinational MoonJune All-Star Band (Indonesia’s Dwiki Dharmawan, Israelis Gilad Atzmon, Yaron Stavi and Asaf Sirkis, and Italy’s Savoldelli) led by another label standout, the formidable Uruguayan guitarist Beledo; and a grand finale with a band that needs no introduction, one of the most beloved names in Italian Progressive Rock, the legendary Osanna joined by Van der Graaf Generator saxophonist David Jackson for a special concert created specifically for the festival.
On Friday, July 24 at 11:00 a.m. in Sala Ipogea, an unmissable round table will celebrate the 60th anniversary of one of the most exciting experiences in late-twentieth-century music: Soft Machine, whose latest incarnations were born within the MoonJune orbit. This will be followed by a unique performance dedicated to their music, featuring Beppe Crovella, the beloved Arti & Mestieri keyboardist, together with Michel Delville of The Wrong Object. The early evening double bill returns to Largo Melatino from 7:00 p.m. with Venezuelan duo Oswaldo Gomez and Heidy Balza, followed by the much-anticipated Fractal Trio led by visionary Swiss guitarist Stephan Thelen performing with Fabio Anile and Anthony Garone. The Soft Machine-themed day naturally culminates with their own performance, but first, from 9:00 p.m. in Piazza Sant’Anna, an absolute MoonJune exclusive: Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy presenting a concert centered on the 1979 album “Rainbow Dome Musick,” the influential Ambient landmark. Next, Teramo welcomes one of the giants of Contemporary Jazz, the acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Gary Husband, performing solo with piano, keyboards, percussion, drums and computer. The evening concludes with Soft Machine in their latest lineup, featuring Husband as guest alongside John Etheridge, Theo Travis, Freddy Baker and Asaf Sirkis.
The final day, Saturday, July 25, is filled with exclusives. At 11:00 a.m. the MoonJune Awards will be presented to four key figures—John Etheridge, Lino Vairetti, Markus Reuter and Asaf Sirkis—but shortly beforehand there will be a special moment: for the first time in Italy since the days of Gentle Giant, the band’s founder Derek Shulman, a legendary figure in Rock history, will make a public appearance to present his book Giant Steps: My Improbable Journey from Stage Lights to Executive Heights. The pre-evening concert will take place in Piazza Orsini, warming up the audience ahead of the final celebration: Chilean artist Gustavo Cerqueiras with his project Tierra Mia, followed by the band of Dutch-American Anton Roolaart featuring Beledo. The festival concludes memorably in Piazza Sant’Anna with the Flamenco-Jazz of Spain’s Diego Amador and a spectacular exclusive: for the MoonJune Festival, Steve Hillage will join Gong for what promises to be an unforgettable concert.
