Four‑piece Experimental Rock band Crying Ivy return with their sophomore single “Respirator,” a release that sees the group push further into new genres and styles of music. Paired with its B-side “Chaperone,” the single highlights the band’s dynamic range and evolving songwriting, shifting from hazy, calm instrumentation into moments that border on Noise Rock — a contrast that mirrors the breadth of their live performances.

Respirator” explores the idea of a “crutch,” or the last legs of a failing relationship, reflecting on the tendency to appeal to everyone at the expense of one’s own needs. The track captures the tension between holding on and letting go, both emotionally and sonically.
