The polish Psych/Acid Rock band Oranżada is back with a new album two years after the release of “Karma Tango.” “Salto” shows the band from a completely different angle. It’s an improvised album that was recorded live in the studio.
Oranżada is a Psychedelic Rock band from Otwock, Poland. They have released five studio albums and they are on the scene for over 20 years. Oranżada played at many international festivals e.g. in Germany: Klangbad Festival in Sheer, International Art Festival in Bremen and Poland: Open’er Festival. They have also played music for silent films such as “The Kid” with Charlie Chaplin.
The new album “Salto” is the result of improvisation while the band was in the studio. During the creation process, the band entirely relied on pure jam. The album contains mostly loosely structured instrumental tracks, Psychedelic jams, referring to the style of the 60s and 70s.
“The idea for the music was actually born by accident. We were asked to create a soundtrack for a B-grade horror film produced by a friend of ours. It was to be in the spirit of Italian horror films from the 1970s. On an April morning, on a day when the moon was full, we played and recorded everything on a small eight-track tape recorder. We didn’t set anything up during the session, we just played track after track, enjoying the fact of creating in real time.” explains
bassist and vocalist of Oranżada, Robert Derlatka.

Album title “Salto” means ‘somersault.’ And the music which Oranżada performs on it is a musical acrobatic. This album underscores that at the root of Oranżada is the pure need to create music, without any preconceived rules. A quartet of well-coordinated musicians, Robert Derlatka, Michal Krysztofiak, Maciej Labudzki and Artur Rzempoluch, were responsible, as always, for creating a thrilling mix of Psychedelia and Space Rock.
“‘Salto‘ would not have been created, however, if it were not for the participation of Maciej Cieslak, a kind of “godfather” of Oranżada‘s new work. Maciek was the first person to receive the material, and it was he who suggested it to be released as an album.” says Robert Derlatka.
In addition, Maciej Cieślak (from a legendary polsih band Ścianka) sang accompanied by Maja Laura Jaryczewska and played the piano as a guest on the only fully-sung song on the album – “Idź do Chmury.”
The album “Salto” is released thanks to the Audio Cave label. A CD version, black vinyl and a
yellow vinyl limited to 100 copies are available.
“Since ‘Salto’ is an album without songs, why not add songs to it. Salto Mortale, Yes!’ – is how
Oranżada explains its singles released outside the regular album.
These two songs are a nod to Orangada‘s proto-Punk and Garage roots, from the days when the musicians played in other bands. However, they were poured with a thick Psychedelic Melodic but raw sauce.
“Holy Ghost” and “So Many Faces” premiere on streaming soon!
