Paris, France bases Heavy Rock/Metal artist Phil Manca published the official video for “Angels don’t Cry (West Memphis 3)” taken from his latest solo album “Layers of Pain” out on July 2023.
“Angels don’t Cry (West Memphis 3)” is based on the story of three Metal-loving teenagers who were wrongly accused in 1993 of massacring three children as part of a satanic ritual.
Two of the young people were sentenced to life in prison and the third, Damien Echols, was sentenced to death.
Many artists, including Johnny Depp, Tom Waits, Henry Rollins and Joe Strummer, defended the trio and after pleading guilty in a second trial after 18 years of imprisonment, the “West Memphis 3” were finally released.
They are still guilty in the eyes of the Arkansas justice system and the real killers of the children, due to lack of further investigations, remain unknown.
There are many documentaries on the “West Memphis 3,“ including “Paradise Lost” with music by Metallica or “West of Memphis” by director Peter Jackson.
The character of Eddy Munson in season 4 of the Netflix series “Stranger Things” is directly inspired by the life of Damien Echols.
