Spanish Psychedelic/Progressive Rock band Plastic Woods published the official video for the single “Close to the Void” taken from new album “Dragonfruit” out on December 3, 2021 via Spinda Records. Watch the video through the YouTube player below:
Helter Skelter meets Motörhead meets Black Sabbath. Even if Plastic Woods uses to define itself as “Psych/Prog” band, they are not very good at being compromised by musical tags. Close to the Void is a response to our current circumstances as humanity. Sourrounded by pandemics, industrial contamination, social conflicts, police repression and mass hysteria, it is time for the artists to get out the trash for everyone to see and do something useful with it.
This Heavy Psych/Punk track is a macabre dance. Everything is burning, the world is fucked up and we are watching how it slowly rots. It could have been released on the 70´s and the message would still be accurate. But even with all the gloom and doom, the message is that we should be doing something about it.
“Close to the Void” is on “Dragonfruit,” the second album from the band. Each song tells its own story, bringing dreams and nightmares to life, as a composition game and a puzzle to be solved. In “Close to the Void,” aggressiveness and apocalypse get along to scream for something bigger than ourselves. Get into the slide and jump inside of it, the rest is on you.
Turn on, tune in, drop out! Welcome to “Dragonfruit,” a new journey designed by Plastic Woods to attract, shock, vibrate and stroke the listener through six songs that explore different genres in a lunatic, cosmic dance. Edited by some of the most important underground national and european Alternative Rock labels (Spinda Records, The Braves Records, Discos Macarras, Violence in the Veins, Quebranta Records and Gato Encerrado Records), this album becomes an intention statement. Having developed themselves as a band, Plastic Woods redefines its sound and takes a step forward, creating a piece of work that explores new territories in an unique way.
The chaotic times we are living inspire this three musicians to push their personality as a band. Thought to take the best of each style involved, the album takes the best from each planetary system they visit. Classic Psychedelia renovates itself as “Dragonfruit” travels around some of the extreme situations lived, personally and colectively, on these late times. This is an album that brings both dreams and nightmares to life, reflecting on a wide range of emotions and topics. Ranging from naive and introspection to political and social complaint, each song tells its own story, in a delirious an poethic way. Plastic Woods offers a piece of work that will engage with different kind of audiences, no matter if they are into progressive music or want something different to get their ears on. This album is a puzzle to be solved, and every clue, every listen, makes it wider and more profound.
“Dragonfruit” comes out on December 3, 2021 on vinyl edition, digipack and digital platforms.
